Sailing Concierge on Disney Magic: Why We’re Glad We Upgraded

Last year for our anniversary, we sailed on the Disney Magic out of Fort Lauderdale for the first time, and we decided to treat ourselves by staying in Concierge. From start to finish, the experience was incredible, and by the end of the cruise, we honestly didn’t want to leave our room.

We stayed in stateroom 8532, a 1-bedroom Concierge suite with a verandah. What made this room special was that the Murphy bed was actually in the living area instead of the bedroom. This layout gave us more privacy in the bedroom, which would be perfect for families or couples traveling with another couple. The room itself was beautifully decorated in a classic nautical theme, which is one of the reasons we tend to prefer the classic and Dream class ships over the newer Triton class ships like the Wish. It felt timeless and elegant without being over the top.

One of the absolute highlights of staying Concierge was the ability to order hot food from the main dining rooms and have it delivered right to our door. Every morning, we enjoyed a hot breakfast delivered to the room without ever needing to leave the suite. We could even request things that weren’t on the standard breakfast menu, like a side of corned beef hash alongside our eggs, sausage, and Mickey waffles. The same crew member brought our breakfasts each day, and interacting with him quickly became one of our favorite parts of the trip. He reminded me of the kind of butler you’d see in a movie—always polished, attentive, and perfectly in tune with what you needed, without ever being overbearing. It added a touch of old-school charm to the whole experience.

The suite itself was spacious and comfortable, featuring two full bathrooms, a separate bedroom with a queen bed, and a living room area with a pull-down Murphy bed. The wet bar was stocked with our favorite sodas and plenty of water, so we always had refreshments on hand. The private verandah was the perfect spot for morning coffee or relaxing while taking in the ocean views.

Being Concierge guests came with a number of perks beyond just the room. We had exclusive access to the Concierge Lounge on Deck 10, a quiet retreat where we could unwind throughout the day with complimentary snacks and nonalcoholic beverages. The lounge also has a sun deck with cushioned lounge chairs, cooling misters, and a small bar stocked with water and refreshments—perfect for escaping the busier areas of the ship and enjoying a peaceful moment.

The Concierge staff themselves were outstanding. They helped us with everything from priority check-in and boarding to dining reservations and spa bookings. One moment that really stood out was when the captain was greeting guests, but we couldn’t attend. The Concierge team took care of getting our ship model signed on our behalf. When the signed model was returned damaged, they didn’t hesitate to get us a new one and have it signed again. It’s that kind of thoughtful service that made us feel truly cared for.

Another nice touch was being escorted to the shows each night. We got seated before most guests and even received free popcorn. It made the whole evening feel a bit more special and relaxed, like we had a VIP pass to the entertainment.

While we’ve never thought Concierge was something you have to do every cruise, this experience definitely spoiled us. For a special occasion like an anniversary, the extra comfort and personalized service made the trip feel extra memorable. It’s definitely worth considering as an upgrade from time to time.

Because we sailed Concierge, we were also able to book a cabana on Disney’s private island, Lookout Cay. That was an amazing day in its own right, and I’ll share more about that experience in a separate article.
